LaSexta modernizes its storage with Sgi

Silicon Graphics, through Unitecnic, implements an advanced NAS system in the Spanish private company that connects the digital archive of its headquarters in Barcelona and Madrid.

When it comes to joining two digital files that are more than six hundred kilometers away, implementing a NAS (Network Attached Storage) system is not exactly a simple matter. This has been the challenge that LaSexta has entrusted to Silicon Graphics (Sgi) through the integrator Unitecnic, in a collaboration between the two that is taking place for the first time. The general television network has thus carried out an ambitious project to expand and digitize its storage systems in its facilities in Madrid and Barcelona, ​​connected and synchronized with each other through its internal network that allows access to the network's files regardless of where they are located.

As for the InfiniteStorage 220 system, its super-scalable design allows it to support a large number of NFS and CIFS users and a large storage capacity. In addition, it integrates powerful diagnostic and management tools with fully integrated remote replication and snapshot modules. Its configuration includes SATA and Fiber Channel disk devices with a maximum of up to 448 disks (for NAS 4050) offering system memory between 8 and 48 GB and between 2 and 16 in the array controller cache. The system also offers up to 12 Gigabit Ethernet ports.
