Smoke 2010, Flint 2010 and Luster 2009 Extension

Autodesk shows at NAB'09 how its latest visual effects systems drive efficiency and promote creative freedom in film and television projects.

Autodesk today announced the 2010 versions of the Smoke and Flint applications for finishing edits and visual effects. The company has also released the 2009 Extension 1 version of the Luster and Incinerator color correction applications. It has also released the Autodesk Flare application, a creative companion for the 2010 versions of the Flame and Inferno visual effects systems.

Key new features in Smoke 2010 and Flint 2010 include new 3D creative tools (3D scrolling, UV mapping and improved 3D text), Modular Keyer with easy-to-use presets, expanded support for professional digital media formats (including REDCODE RAW, Open EXR for multiple channels and Avid DNxHD with Apple QuickTime for expanded media trimming capabilities), faster and more flexible file-based trimming features. with a powerful new search engine with definable criteria, support for Advanced Pulldown removal from clips with Advanced, Standard and PAL Pulldown with automatic deactivation detection, and expanded floating point processing support in Batch.

As for Extension 1 2009 of Luster and Incinerator, they incorporate new functions such as color isolation based on Autodesk Diamond Keyer, with pre-filter functions, improved post-Key filters, quick color presets and implementation of the control panel. They will also now support 3D lookup table (LUT) with matte color view and data entry to facilitate complex color transformations. Support for REDCODE RAW and Avid DNxHD formats with Apple QuickTime has also been improved. In terms of audio, Luster and Incinerator now allow you to work with 16 audio I/O tracks through embedded SDI signals, with the possibility of adjusting the format of project-based audio files for capture. Finally, it should be noted that Autodesk has improved interoperability between its Luster and Flame, and Inferno and Smoke solutions.
