Today, Television of the Principality of Asturias broadcast in high definition the first leg of the promotion phase to Second B between Real Oviedo and Mallorca B at the Yelmo Cineplex cinemas in Oviedo.

yelmo_rtpaTPA has begun to test broadcast high-definition signals through DTT channel 60 from Oviedo, a city where analogue broadcasts from the Monte Naranco repeater will cease on June 30. As a pioneering experience, the regional channel has today broadcast the first leg of the promotion phase to Second B of Real Oviedo against Real Club Deportivo Mallorca B held at the Carlos Tartiere stadium. In addition, the network screened the match in one of the rooms of the Yelmo Cineplex cinemas (Los Prados Shopping Center) in Oviedo. For those who have stayed at home, obviously, only those few viewers who have an STB for DTT HD, external or integrated, have been able to enjoy this experience on their television.

Since the owners of the regional DTT multiplex are TPA and Producadora Asturiana de Televisión, the latter has transferred its digital program to the autonomous community to have sufficient bandwidth of 15 megabits to be able to carry out this experience. In addition to the football match between Real Oviedo and Mallorca B, TPA has also broadcast in high definition an hour-long montage with spectacular images of Asturian landscapes.

TPA is the third Spanish television network that broadcasts High Definition signals after the public television stations of Catalonia (TVC) and Aragón (Aragón TV). TPA has already broadcast its digital programming on DTT 24 hours a day since March 2006, with coverage of 86.9% of the population. In May 2007, the regional channel began broadcasting on DTT with a second channel that offers the same programming as analog but with a 60-minute delay.
