ASIMELEC complains about the exclusion of ICT in the Audiovisual Law
He denounces that this procedure is becoming common, since in his opinion ICT companies have also been excluded from the preliminary draft law for financing RTVE.
ASIMELEC has sent a letter to the president of the Council of State, Francisco Rubio, to express its complaint about the fact that the sector of Information Technology, Telecommunications and Consumer Electronics (ICT) companies that operate in our country have not been informed or consulted about the preparation of the Draft General Law on Audiovisual Communication.
According to the text sent by ASIMELEC, this attitude is serious since all the aforementioned sectors will be directly affected by the provisions contained in the text of the draft Law. Likewise, ASIMELEC informs the Council of State that this way of acting is becoming common, "since, companies have not been consulted in relation to the draft law on financing RTVE either."
In the same text, ASIMELEC requests a hearing from the Council of State, in order to present the due allegations, and in accordance with those established in article 18 of Organic Law 3/1 980, of April 22, of the Council of State. According to Martín Pérez, president of ASIMELEC, "we are concerned about this attitude of exclusion of the sector in the development of the new legislation due to its direct impact on companies. In this regard - says Pérez -, from the little we know about the Draft Audiovisual Law, we would like to let the Government know our point of view, especially because we think that it is a Law designed, developed and based on the key to the past of this market, but that it does not contemplate or foresee the future of the audiovisual sector."
