DPA will display two new additions to its catalog at its stand at IBC'09: the DPA 4017-R shotgun mic with Rycote windscreen and the 5100 mobile surround-sound mic, along with other components for surround sound capture.

DPA 5100

During IBC'09, those who come to the DPA stand will be able to listen to some of the surround sound recordings made with different DPA products such as the S5 and S3 together with the 5100 portable microphone specially designed for broadcast environments. Compact, robust and easy to configure, the 5100 is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions and the toughest transportation demands. The microphone employs five miniature pressure transducers that feature low sensitivity to wind and mechanical noise, low distortion, consistent low frequency response and wide dynamic range.

DPA ensures that optimal channel separation and directionality are achieved through a combination of DiPMic (Directional Pressure Microphone) technology, which mounts interference tubes in the L/C/R capsules, and the use of acoustic baffles that preserve level accuracy between discrete analog output channels.
On the 5100 the three front microphones are time matched to eliminate the comb filter and to ensure consistency in frequency when mixing to stereo or mono. In contrast, the rear microphones, which feature omnidirectional patterns, are spaced from each other and the front to simulate natural signal arrival time differences.

Other products from the DPA catalog that will be seen at IBC'09 are the 5006, 5015 and 5006-11 surround kits. These kits are composed of five 4006-TL omnidirectional (DPA 5006), five 4015-TL cardioid (DPA 5015) and three 4006-TL with two 4011-TL cardioid microphones (5006-11), as well as various accessories such as acoustic pressure equalizers.

Another micro to keep in mind is the 4017-R gun solution with Rycote windscreen. A microphone specifically designed to take advantage of the compact size of the 4017 shotgun microphone. The microphone, with XLR connection, has other Rycote accessories. The DPA 4017-R allows the capture of clear and directional sound, regardless of weather and environmental conditions.

Finally, for use on set, DPA offers the 4017-R and 4080 cardioid tie microphones.
