Grass Valley LDK8000 SportElite

British production services company NEP Visions has just purchased a total of 34 Grass Valley LDK 8000 Elite WorldCam multi-format HD cameras. These cameras allow immediate switching between 1080i, 1080p and 720p at 50-, 59.94 and 60 Hz for a wide variety of productions.

These new cameras will be operational in NEP Visions units early next year covering events such as the Premier League and Champions League for Sky Sports.

The new LDK 8000 Elite WorldCam with their respective triax transmission systems will be incorporated into the huge Grass Valley LDK 6000 HD WorldCam fleet that NEP Visions already had.

Triax-fibra

George Hoover, head of technology at NEP, acknowledged that "after the great experience we have had with the LDK 6000, and as we do a lot of work in the UK on triax, we have chosen to remain in the family of cameras taking advantage of the investments we had already made. Many of our customers in the UK and abroad prefer Grass Valley image quality, so we are delighted to offer them this option to produce a large number of different projects with the same camera."

For his part, Jeff Rossica, vice president of Grass Valley, commented that "many production companies continue to rely on Triax connectivity both on location and in the studio, especially in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe, which has made our cameras very attractive because they can work with fiber or Triax cables. The new LDK 8000 Elite cameras work perfectly with Triax-based base stations, so your initial investment is protected, while at the same time, the new cameras provide greater functionality. "

NEP Vision will use triax cabling but since the LDK 8000 design is the only one in HD prepared for fiber and triax, it is not necessary to change the front optics without therefore affecting the quality and functionality of the camera. Grass Valley's LDK 8000 uses HD-DPM imaging technology that delivers 9.2 million pixels. By manipulating images at the subpixel level, the camera can produce full resolution native images for any HD capture format with consistent pin-sharp resolution and high sensitivity.
