DirecTv will broadcast in HD 3D before spring
The North American television platform could finally announce the launch before spring of a 3D service during CES 2010, which is being held this week in Las Vegas.
DirecTv could finally announce at the end of this week in Las Vegas on the occasion of the Consumer Electronic Show (CES 2010) the launch before the summer of a regular stereoscopic high definition service. To obtain sufficient bandwidth, DirecTV will use a new satellite that is being finalized in order to have it fully operational next March, a date that is being considered for the launch of this 3D channel.
To receive the stereographic signal, users will only have to automatically update the firmware of their HDTV set-top boxes.
DirecTv's 3D programming will be compatible with the new televisions that will be presented at CES by Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, LG and other manufacturers, including some DLP models of Mitsubishi projectors that will come accompanied by 3D converter boxes.
