The Assembly Hall of the Rectorate of the University of Malaga houses an exhibition that will include 46 Andalusian short films and 10 long films.

Until May 17, every Monday, the Assembly Hall of the Rectorate of the University of Malaga will host the IV Andalusian Audiovisual Exhibition in which 46 Andalusian short films and 10 feature films will be screened on this occasion. All of these works have in common the quality of the productions, their Andalusian origin and the difficulty of finding them in conventional film circuits.

The presentation of the exhibition was attended by May Silva, director of the Audiovisual Foundation of Andalusia, María Isabel Calero, vice-rector of Culture and Institutional Relations, and Sara Robles, director of the Secretariat of Culture. The Vice-Rector for Culture referred to the importance for the University of Malaga in general and for its Vice-Rectorate, in particular, of everything that has to do with audiovisual matters. “It is a crucial commitment of the University of Malaga that from the Vice-Rector's Office we try to reinforce with activities such as this exhibition, the audiovisual campus or Fancine itself,” said María Isabel Calero.

May Silva, for her part, focused on the importance of these samples so that Andalusians know the work that is done in their land. “We began to create catalogs of Andalusian audiovisual productions to present them in the major world cinema and television markets, where they tend to be well received, while the paradox arose that many of these works were unknown to the Andalusian public itself,” explained the person in charge of the AVA Foundation, who continued recalling the genesis of these exhibitions: “For this reason we tried to find a channel to bring Andalusians closer to the productions that are made in their land and we found it with the Universities, something that is especially satisfactory for us because it brings us closer to a young audience that is especially receptive to audiovisual productions.”

The samples began at the universities of Seville and Malaga and over time have been extended to those of Córdoba, Cádiz and, starting this year, to the University of Granada. The IV edition will bring to the UMA Assembly Hall a total of 10 feature films and 46 short films of all styles and genres, but "with the guarantee of a high level of quality in the production", according to the assessment of May Silva who encouraged all university students and residents of Malaga to "remove their prejudices and come to see some high quality products, made in our land, with Andalusian directors, technicians and actors and that, in many cases, due to the policies of the distributors have no place in their own commercial circuits, even if they are successfully launched in other countries.”
