With functions similar to the Makito COTS, the new AIR that HaiVision will present in Las Vegas is a compact and robust solution for HD H.264 encoding in resolutions up to 1080p60, supporting the incorporation of KLV and CoT metadata in real time.

HaiVision Network Video will present at NAB the new Makito AIR, the compact and robust version of the popular Makito COST, including metadata capability. Under strict DO-160 specifications and equipped with MIL-STD connectors, the Makito AIR offers HD H.264 encoding at resolutions up to 1080p60. This new encoder for security environments and IP video applications that require the highest resolution, lowest latency, bandwidth and efficiency.

In addition to including features characteristic of the Makito COTS (such as HD encoding in less than 55 milliseconds), it supports real-time use of metadata. The AIR Makito can incorporate KLV (Key Length Value) and CoT (cursor on target) metadata into MPEG streams compliant with MISB (Motion Imagery Standards Board) standards.

Mirko Wicha, president and CEO of HaiVision, has called the Makito AIR technology an innovative technology for all mission-critical mobile video applications. Its low HD cadence combined with the use of metadata finds applications in all areas of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance…”

All major features available in Makito COTS products will be available in the AIR without the need for custom hardware and firmware development for airbone applications. Additionally, the KLV metadata feature has been specifically added to this new HaiVision solution. Although the AIR is now available for testing and can be seen at NAB 2010, it won't be on the market until next month, although support for KLV metadata will be added via firmware in Q3 of this year.
