Akamai Technologies will share the stage with industry giants Texas Instruments, the European Broadcasting Union and Telephone at this edition of IBC 2010 to present its vision for the future of the Internet. Representatives of these companies will participate in the first debate of this IBC under the title “Bigger, better, faster – can technology deliver?” which will take place on the 12th at the RAI Center from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Harald Prokop, senior vice president of engineering at Akamai, along with other industry leaders will explore the current explosion of media products and services and debate whether or not the technology is already meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

In his presentation, Prokop will outline Akamai's view of the Internet as a delivery mechanism, explore changing user behaviors, and raise the question of whether the current Internet infrastructure is capable of supporting the vast increase in data volume and staggering number of users that the adoption of media over IP will create.

The conference will begin with Kent Novak of Texas Instruments presenting the session, followed by responses from the mobile industry, ISP technology providers and broadcasters provided by Mike Short, Vice President of R&D at Telefonica and Lieven Vermaele, Technical Director of the European Broadcasting Union.
