TC Electronic introduces its first benchtop loudness meter with highly flexible design options: TC TouchMonitor TM7 and TM9. Both offer an accurate reading of the loudness level with full compatibility with US, European and Japanese broadcast standards.

For decades, TC Electronic has explored and pioneered the field of digital audio and loudness measurement, offering numerous tools to measure, correct and convert audio in a wide variety of applications. For example, the Radar Meter tool is available as a plug-in (LM5D) for Pro Tools HD and for TC's 6000 MKII platform, DB4 and DB8 processors, the LM2 loudness meter, and will now also be available in the new TM7 and TM9.

Both meters are indicated for both broadcast environments, in emission and ingestion, as well as for post-production, cinema and live production. To comply with a given international broadcasting standard, it is vital to have information on audio level thresholds throughout the production and broadcast process.

Thanks to its six basic configurations based on connectivity, features and physical size, users can choose between 7" and 9" touch screens, stereo or multichannel audio, also opting to include the Radar Meter tool in the multichannel version. In addition, it is possible to choose between several input and output options. As standard, the TC TouchMonitor TM9 comes with 16 balanced digital inputs/outputs, while the TM7 has 8 analog and 8 digital inputs/outputs. A number of additional input/output configurations on each balanced or unbalanced (Sub-D or BNC) connection are available as well. TC Electronic plans to release a 3G SDI I/O card for TM9 in 2011.

Additionally, both the TM7 and TM9 can be expanded and upgraded by installing optional software instruments such as the Real Time Analyzer or upgrading from stereo to multi-channel mode at any time.

Customizable color screen

The large color screen of these devices can be configured to meet any imaginable need. For example, position the Radar Meter to the right or left, while the remaining space can be used for other instruments, such as a phase meter or a surround analyzer, but it would also be possible to monitor several Radar Meters simultaneously in different sizes and positions on the screen.

In other words, the screen layout can be tailored to be optimized for any type of application.

The TC TouchMonitor TM7 and TM9 will be on the market later this year.
