The Gaudí awards already have a date. On January 17, the Catalan Film Academy will dress up to celebrate the third edition of these awards that have already become a benchmark in the cinematographic panorama. "Catalan productions are acquiring more and more prestige. The proof is that this year they have achieved a high level of recognition in both national and international festivals," said Joel Joan, president of the Catalan Academy.

This year the red carpet will be rolled out in front of the Arteria Theater in the heart of Paral·lel. “There is no other location in Barcelona that better represents the world of entertainment than the Paral·lel,” says Joel Joan. The contest, which will be broadcast in its entirety on TV3, will bring together almost a thousand film professionals from our country.

Gaudi Honor Award

Currently, the Academy awards a total of 22 awards that recognize the effort and professionalism of great Catalan productions, but there is one that represents a tribute to the dedication of a lifetime to cinema. This is the Gaudí Honor Award, of which the recipient will be revealed on December 9. On January 10, 2011, the naming ceremony of the Honorary Members of the Academy and the family photo of the nominees of the third edition will take place.

The objective of the Honorary Gaudí is to highlight the Academy's gratitude to those people who have contributed talent and dedication to Catalan cinema and who have contributed to giving it the prestige and recognition it has today. Until now, this honorary award has gone to the director Josep Maria Forn and the Barcelona filmmaker Jaime Camino, who became Honorary members of the Academy.

The reading of the nominees for this edition of the Gaudí Awards will be on December 22.
