Within the framework of the meeting, the Academy has named its Honorary Members, who this year have been the makeup artist Joana Martí, the composer Jordi Savall, the producer José Antonio Pérez Giner, the film director, screenwriter and producer Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi and the writer, historian and film critic Romà Gubern.

With one week left until the celebration of the Third Gaudí Awards Gala, this Monday, January 10, the Palauet Albéniz in Barcelona witnessed the reception that the mayor of Barcelona, ​​Jordi Hereu, gave to the nominees for the Awards organized by the Catalan Cinema Academy.

Within the framework of the meeting, the Academy has named its Honorary Members, who this year have been the makeup artist Joana Martí, the composer Jordi Savall, the producer José Antonio Pérez Giner, the film director, screenwriter and producer Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi and the writer, historian and film critic Romà Gubern. In the words of Joel Joan, president of the Academy, “they are five professionals with an outstanding career whom the Academy wants to distinguish for their contribution to our cinematographic history.” Joan also had a few words for the candidates for the 3rd Gaudí Awards present at the meeting, stating that they are “the face and eyes of the best cinema made today in our house.”

After the delivery of the commemorative plaques to the Honorary Members, the candidates for the 2011 Gaudí Awards took the traditional family photo in the gardens of the Palauet Albéniz. Among the attendees, we were able to see a wide representation of the candidates for the Awards, among whom were Agustí Villaronga, director of Bye Black; Rodrigo Cortés, director of Buried; Pau Freixas and Albert Espinosa, director and screenwriter of Herois (Heroes); Judith Colell, director of Elisa K; Gerardo Herrero, director of The great Vázquez; Eduard Fernández, candidate for his work in The Mosquito Net; Aina Clotet, nominated for her starring role in Elisa K o Leticia Dolera, who is up for the award for her directorial debut with the short film I'm sorry, I love you.

Honorary Members of the Academy

Joana Martí is one of the historical makeup artists of our cinema. Throughout his professional career he has participated in fifteen national and international feature films, performing characterizations and special effects.

The composer Jordi Savall has also become part of the Honorary members of the Academy. During his career, Savall has recorded more than 120 albums and has received more than fifty international awards throughout his career, during which he has also worked as a soundtrack composer. In 1992 he won a César for best music for the film Every morning in the world and in 1998 he was nominated again for the same awards for his work in The Marquise.

José Antonio Pérez Giner has more than 120 titles in his history, 24 of which are in the original Catalan version. A pioneer in his time, he was the founder and president of the first group of producers in the Spanish State (currently known as PAC).

The producer and screenwriter Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi stands out for being the producer of the first film shot in Catalan, The Baldiri of the Coast (1968). Outstanding producer and director of national and international films, Isasi has received, among others, seven national cinematography awards, a Goya of Honor, five Sant Jordi Critics' Awards, three Ciutat de Barcelona Awards and the Gold Medal of Fine Arts in 2008.

For his part, Romà Gubern, a film and television writer and scriptwriter, has worked in the academic field at different national and international universities, in addition to standing out for his role as a writer on film history. Gubern has also cultivated his role as a film and television scriptwriter with productions such as Bright future (1964) by Vicente Aranda, The old memory (1977) by Jaime Camino, wait for me in heaven (1987) by Antonio Mercero or series for Spanish Television such as The years lived (1991) with which he received the Ondas Prize. His extensive professional career has been recognized with several awards, among which the Gold Medal of Fine Arts (2010) stands out. Gubern was one of the founders of the Institut del Cinema Català in 1975.
