CrossOver Solo, a “great little” mixer from Ross Video
Ross Video will begin marketing this January the new CrossOver Solo compact mixer, designed for applications with limited space and limited budget. It has a dozen external multi-definition SDI inputs (SD and HD), ten multi-display inputs, six internally generated sources, three keyers and 2 2D DVEs.
Based on the popular CrossOver 12, Ross Video will launch the new CrossOver Solo mixer on the market this January for a price of around $10,000. With the same specifications as its “brother”, however the main electronics and I/O signal are combined with the panel as a single unit thus allowing a significant reduction in cost and size. With a concept of a 1 MLE production mixer, its ease of use and flexibility will allow for some features until now out of the economic reach of many.
The new CrossOver 12 features a dozen external multi-definition SDI inputs (SD and HD), ten multi-display inputs, six internally generated sources, three keyers and 2 2D DVEs. It also has frame synchronization for unlimited input sources, internal SD to HD conversion, four media storage services for images and animations, an excellent chroma keyer and an internal reference generator with three independent outputs. In addition, it has a hundred event memories with MemoryAI.
Like its older brothers, the CrossOver Solo also has a direct interface for 2D/3D graphics generated with Xpression.
As Nigel Spratling, business development director for Ross Video's mixers, commented, "Houses of worship, educational institutions and AV companies have often had to make compromises to achieve their goals and stay within budget. With CrossOver Solo, this changes. We are very pleased that we can now offer a powerful solution at a price under $10,000 with a product that is not a 'decaffeinated' version of what producers really want."
