Christie, main projector supplier in the digital deployment of Yelmo Cines in Spain

The Christie Solaria series has been chosen by the Spanish exhibition chain and the cinemas for the second phase of digital film deployment that covers the digitalization of 370 screens, which constitutes the greatest implementation until the date of digital cinemas in Spain. Arts Alliance Media (AAM), together with the Kelonik group, local integrator in Spain, are carrying out the installation and maintenance. Approximately half of the rooms are being equipped with 3D with the Reald XL system.

The Christie Solaria series have been chosen by the Spanish exhibition chain and the cinemas for the second phase of digital film deployment that covers the digitalization of 370 screens, which constitutes the greatest implementation until the date of digital cinemas in Spain. Approximately 80% of the digital projectors that will be installed in August 2011, date of completion of the digital deployment, will be from Christie.

Yelmo Cinemas is one of the main cinematographic exhibition companies in Spain and has 396 rooms in 31 centers. Arts Alliance Media (AAM), together with the Kelonik group, local integrator in Spain, are carrying out the installation and maintenance. Right now, AAM and Kelonik have already equipped approximately two hundred rooms from the circuit.

In 2009, Christie had also been the brand chosen to equip all of the digitized rooms during the first phase of Yelmo Cine's digital film deployment, which included about thirty screens.

Enrique Martínez, technical director of Yelmo Cines has commented that "we were satisfied with the performance of the Christie teams, their robustness, and their value for money, so we have decided again to install Christie projectors mostly in our process of total deployment."

Due to the wide variety of screen sizes and projection distances that YELMO has in its cinemas, the company will use all the models of Christie Solaria projectors, from the CP2210, to the CP2230 passing through the CP2220.

4K Y 3D

At this time, in Yelmo Cinemas they have not yet chosen which rooms of their circuit should be modified for 4K DLP. "Normally they must be the largest rooms of a complex, but in numerous of our cinemas we have not only a large room of 400 seats or more, but two, three or even four rooms of this size. The tranquility of being able to make the upgrade to any of them, without having to make the choice right now, assures us the success without increase in costs," says the technical director of Yelmo Cinemas.

Approximately half of the rooms are being equipped with 3D stereoscopic, using the Reald XL system. All cinemas will have installed a Theater Management System (TMS) and Library Management Server, Software for Content Management provided by AAM. In addition, each center will have a specialized team for the reception of digital copies and live satellite events thanks to the collaboration of Arqiva, AAM partner. As for the servers, Yelmo Cinemas is installing the DCP-200000.
