Yelmo Cines once again trusts Christie for its new complex in Tarragona
Yelmo Cines has 407 theaters spread throughout the country, and 100% are already digitalized. To equip the six rooms of Parc Central in Tarragona, Yelmo has opted for two Christie CP2220 projectors, three Christie CP2210 and one Christie CP4230 4K resolution projectors.
The new Yelmo Parc Central cinema complex, located in the city of Tarragona, has equipped its six rooms with DLP Cinema projectors from the Solaria series of Christie.
Parc Central is the leading urban shopping center in the city of Tarragona. Managed by Yelmo Cines, the new theaters have an area of 2,280 square meters and the capacity to accommodate 1,250 spectators. With this inauguration, Tarragona once again has movie theaters within the urban area of the city.
“We chose Christie because it is a leading manufacturer in the film industry,” says Rufino Carrillo de la Rosa, head of Digital Projection at Yelmo Cines. “Their equipment is very reliable, robust and has great projection quality,” he adds.
Yelmo Cines has a long business relationship with Christie. In 2009, Christie was the brand chosen to equip all of the digital cinemas during the chain's first phase of digital cinema deployment. And in 2011, during the second phase of digitalization, Christie was the main supplier of projectors to Yelmo Cines. Currently, Yelmo Cines has 407 theaters spread throughout the country, and 100% of them are digitalized.
Marcos Fernández, head of Christie in Spain and Portugal, highlighted that "Yelmo Cines is a leader in offering the most innovative cinematographic technology to its viewers. Together with our partner Kelonik, we are delighted to be a key part of the technological base on which this innovative company bases its plans."
Ready for 4K
To equip the six rooms at Parc Central, Yelmo Cines has opted for two Christie CP2220 projectors, three Christie CP2210 and one Christie CP4230 with 4K resolution for the largest room in the complex, which has a 14 x 8 meter screen and capacity for 244 spectators. “Although 4K today is reduced to a few projections since it has not yet become a standard, Yelmo is committed to cutting-edge technology and preparation for a possible future of high-resolution projections,” says Rufino Carrillo de la Rosa. In that sense, all the Christie projectors installed in Parc Central have the possibility of projecting content in HFR.
Four of the six screens are prepared for 3D projection with the Real D system. In turn, all rooms have 7.1 surround digital sound using the Dolby CP750 processor, and Doremi brand servers. They also have the so-called “red seats”, seats that vibrate depending on the sounds and effects of the films that are projected.
Parc Central also has the necessary facilities to be able to broadcast major musical and sporting events via satellite. Yelmo Cines is characterized by being a pioneer in the broadcast of events like those already held in other theaters on its circuit. Christie's partner Kelonik, based in Barcelona, has been responsible for carrying out the complete installation of this new cinema complex
