Chaos Group's V-Ray rendering engines will now have a new version 2.0 Beta for Maya. Now with interactive rendering on CPU and GPU, Maya users will have faster, more powerful rendering with V-Ray 2.0 for Maya. Among some of the many improved features in this new version are: V-Ray RT and V-Ray RT GPU, faster rendering of dynamic geometries (displacement, skin, proxies, hair,...), faster rendering of render time subdivision surfaces, VrayFur and Maya hair, Python access to the V-Ray scene, VrayCarPaint material, VrayToon shading, among others.

Vladimir Koylazov, CTO of Chaos Group, highlighted that "this release is a big step in the development of our product, and I look forward to detailed feedback from our Beta testers to make it perfect. The inclusion of interactive rendering on both CPU and GPU is especially important to us. It's a feature we've been working on for some time, and we're eagerly waiting to see how it will be received by our testing community."

According to Scott Metzger, VFX Artist at Method Studios, who used V-Ray for Maya for the advertising of the famous video game, Halo Reach, here at Method we have been using V-Ray for Maya since the beginning of its development. It was a huge success in the company for functional and commercial work, big and small. “Having multiple rendering media in-house is a head-to-head against ultimately achieving only the best images.”

V-Ray 2.0 beta for Maya is available to all V-Ray 1.5 for Maya customers, as well as those who pre-ordered V-Ray 2.0 for Maya. Pre-orders begin immediately and are available through Chaos Group's authorized reseller.
