Wimbledon for the first time in 3D on the BBC
In collaboration with AELTC and Sony Professional, BBC will broadcast the men's and women's finals of the Wimbledon tournament in stereoscopic for the first time on the BBC HD channel.
Coinciding with the 125th anniversary of the legendary tennis championship, and in collaboration with the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC) and Sony Professional, the British BBC will broadcast for the first time through the BBC HD channel the men's and women's finals of the Wimbledon tournament in stereoscopic. These finals will take place on July 2 and 3.
Any viewer with a 3DTV television will be able to follow this broadcast both on DTT (on pay TV) and through the Sky, Freesat and Virgin Media platforms.
In the United Kingdom there are currently some 225,000 televisions (10% of the fleet) prepared for stereoscopic broadcasts.
Coinciding with the 125th anniversary of the legendary tennis championship, the BBC will broadcast the entire competition in HD through its BBC One HD channel, in addition to the finals in 3D.
