Moov, a provider of rich graphics for sporting and entertainment events, has used Chyron's HyperX3 on-air graphics systems to support the special programming that the British BBC has broadcast for the Wimbledon tournament. For two weeks at the All England Club in London, Chyron systems provided attractive dynamic graphics enriched with the statistics and live video elements that Moov delivered to the BBC.
Duncan Foot, director of Moov, highlighted that "the rebranding carried out this year coincided with the coverage of this year's tournament, and with the help of Chyron's graphics systems we have provided a package of graphics of great visual richness enriched with an infinite amount of data. We have worked closely with Chyron to ensure a good flow of data in real time with a very sophisticated result of on-air graphics."
Moov develops graphics for broadcasters such as BBC, ESPN, AI-Jazeera, RTE, ITV, Sky Italia, and Channel 4. The company has provided on-air graphics at Wimbledon for the last seven years, but this is the first time the company has relied solely on Chyron graphics equipment. Three HyperX3 systems, along with a graphical control interface designed by Moov, supported local sources at BBC, while another HyperX3 system was dedicated by Moov to ESPN STAR Sports.
During the tournament, graphics created by MOOV were incorporated into the entire live production. The rich graphics segments gave great spectacle to highlights, opening titles, interviews, trailers and promos. Moov has created an event-specific interface to connect live data (scores, ties, order of play) from IBM's tournament scoring system to Chyron's graphics delivery system.
In addition to real-time updates, the Chyron systems used by Moov allowed full-screen live video to be embedded in real time with corresponding animated graphics without the need for rendering.
Michael Wellesley-Wesley, president and CEO of Chyron, added: "Wimbledon has been one of the world's premier sporting events since the first tournament was held 125 years ago. We are excited to have our on-air graphics systems play a critical role in major events like Moov has masterfully done with Wimbledon."
