Broadcast industry recovers from recession
The International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers (IABM), and based on data reported by IHS Screen Digest, considers that the broadcast industry would be recovering around the world. At this rate, their exhaustive study predicts that the industry would recover the volume it had in 2008 by 2012.
According to the fourth edition of the study Broadcast and Media Technology: Global Market Valuation and Strategy to 2015 prepared by the International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers (IABM), and based on data reported by IHS Screen Digest, the broadcast industry would be recovering around the world.
The main conclusions of the IABM report reflect a 6% growth in broadcast and media technology between 2009 and 2010, and the financial data in the report also indicates that the industry will grow at the same rate as GDP by 2015, but there will be no annual differences, including some years in which it could be lower. At this rate, the study suggests that the industry would recover the volume of 2008 in 2012.
Referring to the study's conclusions, Peter White, director general of the IABM, noted that “our industry, like all others, was hit hard by the recession, but it is encouraging to see how it is recovering so strongly.”
The advantageous position that IABM has, with access to all the financial data of its partners, together with the large and representative sample prepared by IHS Screen Digest, traditionally gives its studies high reliability.
This global valuation report is capable of scaling the industry by providing detailed forecasts through 2015. Manufacturers such as Avid, Axon, EVS of Grass Valley, Harmonic, Harris, Miranda, Nevion, Quantel, Snell, Sony, and Vitec Group participate in this project as members of the IABM.
