With SDI, HDMI and analog video capture/playback along with balanced analog audio and digital AES/EBU inputs, UltraStudio 3D allows connection to all types of decks, cameras and monitors, making it faster to work in stereoscopic environments.

The new UltraStudio 3D that Blackmagic has begun to market is a high-end capture device that allows you to capture video in 3D format, in this case capturing a signal for the right eye and another for the left eye, and then sending it to a laptop such as the Macbook Pro where you can work on said captures.
The generated signal can reach 12-bit quality at 1,080p and at a speed of 60 images per second.

In addition to Thunderbolt connectivity, it also has an HDMI, analog and AES/EBU (AUES3) port.

For correct operation, it requires compatible software such as BlackMagic DaVinci, Final Cut, After Effects, Premier or Photoshop. Along with the capturer, Blackmagic includes BlackMagic's Media Express software.

This proposal from Blackmagic allows users to work with dual link SDI connections to capture and play back two video streams, one for the left eye and one for the right eye. The two streams are recorded in two independent media files, each at full resolution.

Featuring SDI, HDMI and analog video capture/playback along with balanced analog audio and digital AES/EBU inputs, UltraStudio 3D allows connection to all types of decks, cameras and monitors.

UltraStudio 3D instantly switches between SD, HD and 2K, making it the ideal solution for all post-production and broadcast users working on design, editing, color and effects tasks.

UltraStudio 3D is also based on a new internal hardware design with support for 10-bit SDI video and full support for video types up to 1080p60 via SDI, HDMI and analog components. Thunderbolt technology easily handles this quality, and allows for more flexible workflow in 3D productions.

Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic, said: "Working closely with Intel and Apple on this project, I can't believe how many advanced features have been packed into this unique product. UltraStudio 3D has finally offered a real, portable solution at a truly affordable price."
