This season will coincide with the 75th anniversary of Radio Nacional, which will be celebrated with different actions throughout Spain. In its new season, public radio enhances information, analysis and debate, recovers the contest and reinforces comedy radio drama.

A new course begins on RNE and on all its stations: Radio 1, Radio 5, Radio 3, Radio Clásica, Ràdio 4 and Radio Exterior. The public channel faces the new 2011-2012 season by promoting the renewal of the content, formats and managers incorporated last season and which have been so well received by the audience. In this way, in the new stage the main bets are maintained, with some significant changes: programs such as On days like today; Special attention will be paid to electoral information; new additions and collaborators; Radio 5's weekend offering is expanded; and the websites of the various stations are enhanced.

During the presentation of the new season, the director of RNE, Benigno Moreno, expressed the intention of the public channel to “make a radio station even better and closer to citizens, according to the objectives of independence and public service of the RTVE Corporation.”

Moreno has highlighted the consolidation of the RNE model, which can be seen "in the numbers", but also "in the assessment made by citizens." “From a quantitative and qualitative point of view, the position and route are appropriate.”

Furthermore, the new season coincides with RNE's 75th anniversary, in January 2012, which will be celebrated with actions throughout Spain to publicize the internal work of a radio station that "has traveled the history of the country alongside the citizens, in good and bad times," as Benigno Moreno has pointed out. The challenge now is “to look to the future and continue accompanying citizens.”

Information, a fundamental pillar

Information will continue to be one of the pillars of the public chain. Radio Nacional maintains those responsible for its two major daily newspapers: 14 Hours, directed by Rafael Bermejo and presented by Ana Sterling, and 24 Hours, directed and presented by Íñigo Alfonso. This last space has a large group of collaborators, including José Antonio Zarzalejos and Ernesto Ekaizer who will reflect each night the various visions on the main news of each day.

On Radio 5, the formulas of last season are maintained, after the success they have achieved. RNE's “All News” station combines up-to-the-minute information and more calm analysis. The news arrives on the weekend, which reinforces its programming with formats similar to the rest of the days. The hours of live broadcast are completed with reports, interviews and the vision of specialists. Radio 5 maintains its philosophy of public service.
