RCN Television (Radio Cadena Nacional), the Colombian broadcaster that covers 97% of the population with 135 stations, featured slow-motion replays in high definition resolution during the FIFA U-20 that took place at the end of September in Colombia. To do this, it relied on K2 Dyno technology from Grass Valley.

RCN placed an order for four Grass Valley K2 Dyno Replay systems in 2010 and another two in the middle of this year. For the Under-20 coverage, RCN rented a further three Dyno K2 systems, bringing the total to nine systems used during the three-week, internationally broadcast event.

Andrés Galeano, technical vice president of RCN Televisión, highlighted that "with the economical cost of the K2 Dyno playback systems, we have been able to provide the highest quality super slow motion and multi-camera replays across eight locations. Dyno has also proven to be very easy to use. Grass Valley has collaborated in the training of our staff, thus being able to get the systems up and running very quickly, getting the most out of them."

The eighteenth edition of the FIFA U-20 was held from the end of July to August 20, 2011 in eight different venues. Each of these locations had a mobile unit equipped with a K2 Dyno repeater system.

“For viewers, this year's coverage was more exciting than ever, featuring better on-air coverage thanks to RCN's analysis of HD replays,” said Jeff Rosica, executive vice president of Grass Valley. "In addition to its many features, the Grass Valley K2 Dyno Replay system is very affordable, allowing broadcasters to deploy more units in the field. With multi-venue events such as the U-20 World Cup this is essential to keep the production budget under control while achieving first-class coverage," he added.

The Grass Valley K2 Dyno Replay Controller along with the K2 Summit Production Client Server are designed to assist producers and other sports professionals in capturing live events in all HD resolutions and instantly playback at variable speed any footage for critical analysis during events.
