The 3D documentary film 'Enxaneta' premieres in Paris
'Enxaneta' is a 3D documentary, produced by Televisió de Catalunya, about the world of “castells”, a popular Catalan tradition with 210 years of history that consists of making human constructions.
This week the TV3 3D film premiered at the Maison des Polytechniciens in Paris Enchanted, presented by the delegate of the Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia in France, M. Miquel Vila Regard, and by the president of the XXI Siècle Club.
Subsequently, a conference was held by the sociologist Salvador Cardús and the vice president of the Coordinadora de les Colles Castelleres, Miquel Botella, with the participation of the mayor of Vic, Josep Maria Vila d'Abadal Serra. The theme was the integrative nature of the “castells”.
Declared by UNESCO as intangible heritage of humanity, the “castells” are an example of the participation of people of all ages, origins and social conditions, with a common objective, a spirit that is reflected in the documentary film Enchanted.
Castles in 3D
Enchanted is a 3D documentary, produced by Televisió de Catalunya, about the world of “castells”, a popular Catalan tradition with 210 years of history that consists of making human constructions. Last year, the “castells” received recognition by UNESCO as intangible heritage of humanity.
The documentary Enchanted makes an approach to all the values that the “castells” contain and that were worthy of recognition by UNESCO. Based on the full 3D recording of the 2010 Tarragona Castle Competition, she explains in the voice of a girl everything that the “castellers” experience when they face achieving a “castell”. The spirit of improvement, teamwork, the integration of women and people from all social classes, of all ages and of any nationality make the “castells” a valuable tool of social cohesion within the 61 “colles castelleres” that exist in Catalonia.
With the participation of relevant “castellers” from several “colles”, Enchanted It represents a journey of the entire “castellera” family through the concepts that have always defined the “castells”: courage, strength, balance and sanity. And it addresses topics little covered until now, such as fear and the risk that falls represent.
To the 3D images of the Tarragona Contest, are added those captured on “diades” (marked days) of Valls, Vilafranca and Terrassa, where during 2010 unpublished “castells” were achieved, such as the tower of 8 without “folre”, “castells” that have only been seen on rare occasions, such as 3 out of 10, and unusual events, such as the ascent of a “colla” in the extra range category, which no one had achieved in 14 years.
Following the dissemination commitment that TVC has always had with the “castells”, Enchanted It is one of the first documentaries produced entirely in 3D in our country and has been conceived as an informative work that can be understood by anyone, of any nationality, who has never seen “castells”. At the same time, it wants to be the reflection of all the feelings, all the work and all the totally selfless spirit of improvement that, day after day, the “castellers” contribute so that Catalonia feels increasingly proud of this centuries-old tradition.
