Eurovision and Telecom Argentina choose Ateme broadcasting solutions
Broadcast encoder and transcoder provider Ateme has been chosen by Eurovision and Telecom Argentina to cover their broadcasting needs.
Eurovision will use the Kyrion CM4101 encoder Atem for your 10-bit MPEG-4 satellite video transmissions. This choice, the result of an intensive testing program carried out by the technical department of the European Broadcasting Union since 2010, highlights the maturity of MPEG-4 4:2:2 10-bit compression just two years after Ateme put it on the market in 2009.
Paolo Pusterla, Head of Procurement Alliances and Network at the EBU, assures that “they are very impressed by the quality of the product”, while commenting that “the Kyrion encoder from Ateme meets our requirements for the future and we will consider using it in future future events through the Eurovision network of the EBU.”
In addition, Telecom Argentina has turned to Ateme's Kyrion contribution solution to broadcast major soccer events recently held in the country such as the Copa América to millions of viewers in the United States and Europe. The operator employed CM4101 encoders and DR8400 decoders supporting MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 compression up to 4:2:2 10-bit compression and HD resolution up to 1080p60.
Alfredo Musitani, product manager of video broadcasting and special services at Telecom Argentina, highlights that "we wanted to offer our clients - broadcasters, satellite TV and other owners of distribution licenses to consumers - the best image quality, while investing in technology for the future. During the field tests, Ateme and its local integrator LADE Professional provided great support to our operations team."
For his part, Raúl Rivera, Sales Director for Latin America at Ateme, comments that "this is the first time that 10-bit MPEG-4 4:2:2 high definition technology is used in this country for the transmission of high-quality sports content, which will surely be followed by other projects. We are very pleased to team up with Telecom Argentina and LADE Professional for this milestone in broadcasting."
