Abertis Telecom Terrestre will operate from April 1 under its new brand Cellnex Telecom
The new name and brand of Abertis' terrestrial telecommunications subsidiary is part of the company's preparations for a possible IPO as provided for in the company's strategic plan for the period 2015-2017.
Abertis Telecom Terrestre, Abertis' telecommunications subsidiary, will operate as of April 1 as Cellnex Telecom. Its new corporate image will be centered on the Cellnex brand and will be supported by the motto “we promote telecommunications connectivity (driving telecom connectivity)”.
Cellnex Telecom presents itself as a company with global ambition. A company that today already provides service to more than 100 million people in Europe; with the will and capacity to accompany the deployment of new generation infrastructures in the field of telecommunications and that, for example, will play a key role in the adoption process of 4G and the future 5G. Infrastructures and networks that ensure service and content providers, signal and data transport, and their clients, secure, reliable, permanent and also mobile access. Wherever they are and whenever they are.
Cellnex Telecom is therefore born as a global operator that is committed, in collaboration with its clients, to the introduction of innovative technologies that consolidate the foundations of a connected society and economy.
In which people, companies, organizations and public and private institutions can maximize their capabilities, thanks to the growing “nexus” and interconnection fostered by increasingly efficient communications networks.
Growth and internationalization
After the recent agreement reached in Italy with the mobile telephone operator WIND to acquire and manage a large part of its network of telephone towers, added to the company's plans to go public that could take place within the first half of 2015, Abertis Telecom faces a "refoundation" process.
The company is already the leading operator in Europe in the management of telecommunications infrastructure. And it has given a strong boost to the expansion and consolidation of the infrastructure sharing business for mobile telephony which, after the closing of the operation with WIND, will contribute more than 50% of the total income of the Abertis subsidiary, to which we must add that 35% of these will originate outside of Spain.
The result is the reinforcement of its position as an integrated operator of telecommunications infrastructures and networks, which serve the broadcasting, mobile telephony, security and emergency networks markets, and the emerging field of the “Internet of Things” (Internet of Things) and applications for smart city projects. Let us add to this the firm commitment to continue deepening the internationalization of its activities.
