Terra, the largest Internet company in Latin America, is finalizing the details of setting up the studio for the transmission on up to 13 channels, simultaneously, of the XVI Pan American Games in Guadalajara. The operation will be concentrated in the IBC, International Broadcast Center.

More than 25 Terra professionals, out of a total of 84, are already in the Mexican city to cover the XVI Pan American Games that will take place in Guadalajara (Mexico) from October 12 to 30. In total, 220 people will be directly involved with media coverage.

Transmissions from a 200m2 studio will include signals in high definition and in three languages: Spanish, English and Portuguese. There will be more than 200 hours of transmission in 18 days of the games.

Terra's content director for Latin America, Antonio Prada, who will coordinate coverage from Mexico, has assured that "Terra breaks paradigms once again in sports coverage, as in recent years, and will provide the most interactive and modern coverage in the history of the Pan American Games. This will be the first time that an internet company will have a television studio set up in the media center of the competitions. Live broadcasts and programs, with a series of guests and the main athletes of the competition, will be presented directly from the 200 square meter studio.”

Among the new features of the coverage is the possibility of following competitions simultaneously, on a larger screen and on a secondary screen – Picture in Picture.

In addition to live broadcasts, the user will be able to view the best moments through on-demand videos, follow real-time statistics, records, athlete profiles, notes, photos, and Live blogs.

The user will also be able to view the content on smartphone and tablet versions. The coverage of the Pan American Games in Guadalajara is part of the “Heading to 2012” project. Terra is the only company to broadcast live, for all of Latin America, the London Olympic Games. Broadcast on eight channels, the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the Vancouver Winter Games were watched by nearly 27.5 million people.
