The EBU will broadcast live from the European Parliament with hybrid radio technology
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) will broadcast live programs in French and English from the European Parliament in Brussels, as a prelude to the Digital Radio Conference 2011.
On Tuesday, October 11, the European Broadcasting Union (UER) will broadcast live in French and English from inside the European Parliament to demonstrate how practical, cheap and easy it is to broadcast with 'hybrid' multimedia digital radio technology.
The hour-long live programs will be broadcast from the Vox Box, a multimedia studio at the European Parliament's headquarters in Brussels, between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. in French, and then between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. in English. Both programs can be heard online through the east link. In addition, the English program will be hosted by renowned Swedish radio presenter Lotta Brome (P4 Extra).
This event is a prelude to the new Digital Radio Conference to be organized by the EBU, which will bring together key figures from both public service and commercial broadcasters, politicians and radio industry professionals from across Europe to discuss the future of this medium. Distinguished policymakers, broadcasters and other stakeholders interested in the future of radio will discuss current trends and identify ways to ensure radio remains accessible and relevant to life in the digital age.
Participants at the conference include French MEP Jean-Marie Cavada, Norwegian Secretary of State Roger Solheim, Michael Niebel (European Commission), Michael Reichert (Director of the Future Radio project, ARD), Francis Goffin (Director of RTBF), Anthony Sethill (CEO of Frontier Silicon) and Raina Konstantinova (Director of the EBU).
