Skaï TV, the Greek channel appointed by the Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE) to manage its CONN-X IPTV service, has awarded VSN and Ariston BTS the project for the technical deployment of its new playout center.

The Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE) is the largest telecommunications operator in the Greek market and has recently awarded the national coverage channel Skaï TV the service of the three SD sports channels of its IPTV service CONN-X TV, in addition to the CONN-X Sport HD channel. CONN-X TV is present in more than 400 locations throughout the country. Subscribers to this service enjoy more than 48 thematic channels with digital quality, including three exclusive sports channels, as well as on-demand television services.

To carry out the technical deployment of its new playout center, the Helena chain has trusted in the flexible technology of VSN and the on-site support of its partner in Greece, Ariston BTS. The project is built on a simple, standard, open and extensible IT infrastructure that includes 4 Vmax SD/HD video servers; 2 units for ingest 4in/1out and 2 units for emission 0in/4out, in addition to a central fiber storage that provides total redundancy without points of failure.

VSNCreaTV accelerates the flow of schedule creation, being able to schedule the programs to be broadcast weeks in advance, and fully integrate with the VSNMulticom automation solution. Operators learned to control and manage the solution in a few days.

VSNMulticom controls an Evertz EMX matrix (288x288) and Mcsqmc-2 mixers, in addition to performing redundancy functions. The graphics insertion uses 4 Vsncg stations connected in 'fill and key' mode to the MCS. Graphics are planned from the VSNCreaTV system and launched by VSNMulticom automation. The installation also includes integration with Sony's Media Backbone Sonaps news production system and Blue Order Archive for ingesting additional material into VSN's broadcast servers.
