Abertis brings connected television even closer

At its Broadcast 2011 stand, Abertis Telecom is carrying out demonstrations of its TDTCOM project for connected television as well as its proposal for OTT online content distribution.

Under the HbbTV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband Television) standard promoted by the European consortium of which Abertis is a part, this project seeks to join forces for the development of a hybrid television capable of combining DTT broadcasting with on-demand content distributed on the Internet.

TDTCOM allows home reception on a connected television, or through a decoder, of the content created by broadcasters for the Internet environment, with added functionalities such as reception on demand, choice of schedules and programming or television on demand, without disturbing the reception of the usual DTT programming.

These days we can also see at IFEMA its proposal for an OTT (Over The Top) online content distribution platform that offers broadcasters and content providers the possibility of delivering content via the Internet to viewers, through set top boxes, connected televisions or other devices. This solution allows you to directly manage the access of the different devices with easy and effective management of the different defined appearances.

At the Abertis Telecom stand, professionals are also checking the capacity of the online content distribution service for multi-devices with additional functions for content encryption with systems (Digital Rights Management), tools for advertising insertion by content providers and CDN (Content Delivery Network), a solution developed for the optimization of Internet browsing. Distribution on the Internet through CDN networks incorporates a new web page acceleration system that makes it possible to speed up access to the web, optimizing the way in which information appears and content is displayed on the screen.
