The new SES-4 will be the largest and most powerful SES satellite, capable of providing fixed satellite services with 52 C-band and 72 Ku-band transponders.

The SES-4 satellite, the 50th in the SES fleet, will be launched into space at the end of December from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to cover Africa, Eastern Europe and North and South America.

SES has delivered the SES-4 satellite to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, where preparations are underway for its launch with an ILS Proton Breeze M vehicle supplied by International Launch Services (ILS) on board. The SES-4 satellite has been designed and built for SES by Space Systems/Loral (SS/L).

The launch is planned for the end of December 2011.

SES-4 will be the 50th satellite in the SES global fleet. It will also be SES's largest and most powerful satellite, with the ability to provide fixed satellite services with 52 C-band and 72 Ku-band transponders. The satellite will provide regional signals to the Middle East, Europe, West Africa and the Americas. SES-4 will replace the NSS-7 satellite at 338 degrees east longitude.
