The Amazonas 4A satellite arrives at the Kourou launch base
The launch of the new satellite of the Hispasat group, which will expand the offer of audiovisual services in Latin America, is scheduled for March 7.
The Amazonas 4A satellite of the Hispasat group has been successfully transferred, on a Boeing 747 aircraft, to the launch base of the European Space Agency located in Kourou, French Guiana.
Its transfer was carried out after having passed all the tests and completing its manufacturing process at the Orbital Sciences Corporation facilities in Dulles (Virginia). Now, in Kourou, the final tests will be carried out and the satellite will be integrated into the rocket for its subsequent launch, scheduled for March 7.
The Amazonas 4A satellite, the eleventh that Hispasat puts into orbit, will be launched by the Arianespace company aboard the Ariane 5 ECA rocket. With a launch mass of approximately 3 tons, the satellite measures more than 23 meters in wingspan and 4.7 meters in height. It has 24 Ku band transponders, 2 deployed antennas and attitude control in three axes that ensure great pointing precision.
The Amazonas 4A satellite will expand, from the 61º West orbital position, the offer of audiovisual services in Latin America.
