Hispasat presents its Amazonas Nexus satellite at the Washington Satellite Show 2020
The Spanish operator's new satellite will be launched in the second half of 2022 and will have an estimated useful life of 15 years.
Hispasat attend one more year Washington Satellite Show, the most important fair in the satellite sector worldwide, where from today until Thursday the main protagonists and more than 300 companies in the space industry will meet.
Their new satellite will be presented at the Hispasat stand, Amazon Nexus, which the company is currently manufacturing Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between the companies Thales (67%) and Leonardo (33%).
This new satellite, which sIt will be launched in the second half of 2022, will have coverage over the entire American continent, the North Atlantic corridor and Greenland and will provide state-of-the-art telecommunications services in the Ku frequency band. It will replace Amazonas 2 in the orbital position of 61º West expanding its capabilities.
The Amazon Nexus It will have a latest generation Transparent Digital Processor (DTP), an essential technological innovation to increase geographic flexibility if changes occur in the initially proposed commercial scenarios. Thanks to DTP, the satellite's payload will be digitally processed on board, offering the possibility of assigning in orbit the capacities required at all times and providing the satellite with great robustness against changes that may occur in the communications market.
Innovative antennas
Hispasat will also exhibit two advanced satellite terminals for the field of security and emergencies at its stand. On the one hand, the terminal will be shown MicroSAT L/M (terrestre y marítimo, por sus siglas en inglés) para servicios móviles.
