The satellite operator detects an incident in the initial behavior of the satellite.

Amazonas 4A

Following the launch of Amazonas 4A from the European space base of Kourou (French Guiana), aboard an Ariane 5 vehicle from Arianespace, and its subsequent placement into geostationary orbit, Hispasat has detected an anomaly in the behavior of the satellite, related to the power subsystem.

Hispasat and Orbital, the company responsible for the construction of the satellite, are investigating the cause that may have led to this anomaly and implementing corrective actions. At this time, according to the operator, the satellite is safely in its geostationary orbit, in the position where the in-orbit tests will be carried out.

From Hispasat they assure that "a failure or delay in the commissioning of Amazonas 4A would have a minimal economic impact for the group, because the satellite has insurance that covers all possible incidents. Nor would it affect the continuity of the services that the company has been providing to its clients, since there is a contingency plan planned to meet these commitments."
