Harmonic Spectrum provides continuous playout to the four channels of the HSE24 group, while the Harmonic MediaGrid system offers shared storage for on-air content recording.

The German HSE24 (Home Shopping Europe GmbH), a teleshopping channel created in 1995, has migrated its systems to a storage and playout platform with Harmonic. The Harmonic Spectrum server provides continuous playout to the four channels of the HSE24 group, while the Harmonic MediaGrid system offers shared storage for on-air content recording, supporting established editing workflows.

Dieter Baron, technical vice president at HSE24, highlighted that "we chose to work with Harmonic storage solutions because we needed a stable environment and more robust centralized storage. Harmonic systems offer ease of use, scalable capacity, input/output channels, high redundancy and critical availability for 24/7 broadcast operations like ours. We have also used the Harmonic platform to create a highly efficient editing workflow that reduced the time and costs required."

HSE24 uses the MediaGrid centralized storage system, including 19 hours of content for two daily channels, and supports editing from Final Cut Pro systems. Editors can load files for editing into Final Cut Pro and, once post-production is complete, quickly save the new file ready for broadcast.

During its 16-year history, HSE24 has supplied products to more than 7 million users. Its channels are available to 40 million homes (36 million in Germany, three in Austria, and one in Switzerland).
