LTE Broadcast allows mobile network operators to adjust coverage and dynamic capacity as necessary, taking into account the most efficient spectrum and the use of the network.

Qualcomm, in collaboration with Ericsson, have been carried out at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona a demonstration of its proposal LTE Broadcast, the evolution of the Broadcast multicast service multimedia platformtice (EMBMs). LTE Broadcast allows mobile network operators to adjust coverage and dynamic capacity as necessary, taking into account the most efficient spectrum and the use of the network.

LTE Broadcast is a scalable solution for the delivery of great bandwidth and high content demand, both premium and “software content”. The platform has the potential to significantly reduce the costs of the operators, so it allows them to optimize the content and software distribution using the principles of dissemination through LTE networks.

With the implementation, the operators could program a wide distribution of software updates during peak or dynamically increase the network capacity during the most demand occasions, such as the high density of live events in sporting events and concerts.

"Qualcomm is dedicated to the success and adoption of LTE networks worldwide," says the Executive Vice President and President of the Development of Global Markets of Qualcomm, Peggy Johnson. "With a growing number of LTE networks, we are working continuously to produce efficient technology solutions focused on optimizing and maximizing consumer experience in these mobile networks."

"The video will be the engine of increased traffic in mobile broadband networks," says the executive vice president of the Ericsson network business unit, Johan Wibergh. "Managing the LTE diffusion ecosystem is a way to ensure a quality user experience."

With this innovative and emerging technology, Qualcomm allows operators to deploy and climb from EMBM commercial level with leading infrastructure suppliers such as Ericsson, says the US company.
