More than 700 radio leaders and professionals from 45 countries around the world will participate from March 14 to 16 in Barcelona in the third edition of RadioDays Europe.

For the first time, one of the most important world events dedicated to radio will stop in Southern Europe. More than 700 radio leaders and professionals from 45 countries around the world will participate from March 14 to 16 in Barcelona in the third edition of RadioDays Europe.

Barcelona has been the city chosen for the dedication and support of local partners and why it is one of the most attractive destinations in Europe.

Radio is still one of the most important means of communication in Spain and Europe. 90% of the European population listens to the radio. Radio has the ability to create a special bond with the audience, a fact that distinguishes it from other media just at the moment when new challenges arise such as new media, the Internet and new forms of news and entertainment consumption.

Anders Held, Project Manager Radiodays Europe, stated that "one of the challenges of radio is to express its presence and availability in these new avenues and new consumer devices, such as smartphones. It is also important for radio to be innovative and to provide continuity with quality content, which is ultimately what moves listeners. This and many other topics will be discussed at the next edition of RadioDays Europe in Barcelona."

RadioDays Europe is an exhibition of the best of radio today and a debate forum on the challenges and future of radio (in cars, mobile phones and tablets). Among the speakers, directors and senior executives from media outlets such as the BBC, Radio France, Regiocast, and RTL stand out.

"One of the tasks of RadioDays Europe is to share experiences with other European broadcasters. We are pleased to have such award-winning personalities as Chris O'Connell from the Absolute Radio station, or Ira Glass from the This American Life program on the States Units," said Anders Held

There will also be other points of view outside the radio. The German car manufacturer VW will offer a conference on the future of radio in cars. Julian Treasure, expert in sound brands and Andria Viddler of the North American think tank “Pew Research Institute”

The language of the conference will be English, but there will be simultaneous translations into Catalan and Spanish, also due to the weight of the congress as a meeting point for both Catalan and Spanish radio professionals. 4 simultaneous conference panels on different topics will be organized

Apart from talking about radio, there will also be live broadcasts from some Spanish stations. A local digital transmitter will broadcast via DAB+ and there will be live programs via hybrid radio broadcasting.

The partners and co-organizers of RadioDays Europe are AERC, ACR, RNE, Catalunya Ràdio and L’Observatori de la Ràdio a Catalunya; Organizations such as the European Radio Union (EBU) and 14 other European organizations are also partners.

The place where the congress will be held will be the Contemporary Culture Center of Barcelona CCCB and will have the support of the Generalitat of Catalonia, the Provincial Council of Barcelona and the Barcelona City Council.
