A total of five cameras have been combined with Shotoku's new control system, along with TI-11 lifting pedestals and TG-27 lightweight pan/tilt heads to automate broadcast on Canada's The Weather Network.

Shotoku Broadcast Systems has just completed the installation of an IP-based camera control system at The Weather Network, a Canadian broadcaster specializing in weather information.

A total of five cameras have been combined with Shotoku's new control system, along with TI-11 lifting pedestals and TG-27 lightweight pan/tilt heads.

The five cameras are controlled with the TR-8B Joystick, using a single Shotoku DigiPort IP network to replace the serial connection with a more modern and flexible IP interface.

This project was carried out by The Weather Network staff together with a Shotoku engineer, without interrupting the broadcast at any time.

Kiko Grusecki, director of broadcast operations at The Weather Network, acknowledged that "for years, we have benefited from the use of robotic cameras in our operations. But, at some point, we needed to expand our system and adapt it to our camera upgrade plans. Shotoku helped us organize a good and cost-effective replacement without disrupting our on-air operations."
