Sony exceeds 13,000 4K projectors sold worldwide
Sony was the first company to introduce a digital cinema system capable of projecting images at 4K resolution with 8.8 million pixels (4096 x 2160), four times more than HD resolution.
Digital cinema technology Sony is consolidated as the new form of modern cinema exhibition after exceeding the figure of 13,000 Digital Cinema 4K projectors sold worldwide.
This was confirmed by the company at the CinemaCon 2012 convention, where it also assured that the growing demand for its products in this field has been accompanied by greater contracting of complementary solutions and services in hundreds of theaters.
The news comes in the midst of innovation in digital cinema technology by Sony, which has expanded its offering in this segment with products such as glasses equipped with audio (Entertainment Access Glasses) so that people with hearing or visual disabilities can enjoy cinema without limitations.
According to David McIntosh, Senior Vice President of Digital Cinema for Professional Solutions Europe, "The pace of implementation of Sony's digital cinema technology is astonishing, reflecting the quality and innovation with which we have responded to the needs of exhibitors and our commitment to supporting them in the development of their business. CinemaCon 2012 opens a new chapter in the evolution of Sony Digital Cinema with the presentation of new products and services designed to encourage interest in the seventh art by introducing new benefits for both exhibitors and for spectators from all over the planet.”
Demand for Sony projection technology continues to grow, as evidenced by the hundreds of Digital Cinema 4K systems installed each month. Sony was the first company to introduce a digital cinema system capable of projecting images at 4K resolution with 8.8 million pixels (4096 x 2160), four times more than HD resolution.
Likewise, it has already delivered more than one hundred CineAlta F65 cameras, also capable of filming in 4K resolution, which is favoring the increase in content in this format.
On the other hand, in the last six months, the company has detected how a greater number of exhibitors are looking to Sony for a comprehensive supplier that helps them modernize their operations at the lowest possible cost through complementary technologies or services prepared to be implemented in hundreds of rooms around the world. As a result, Sony is strengthening its already extensive portfolio of this line of solutions with offerings that go beyond 4K projection systems to include 3D, integrated software and servers, and dynamic communication solutions with displays, controllers and software, as well as installation, monitoring, maintenance, content creation and distribution services, and financing programs. To all this we must add Sony's entertainment access glasses and new services that will be presented next week.
