Imm Sound is making progress in consolidating its presence in the global 3D sound cinema market.

Sonoblock has inaugurated in Barcelona a studio with immersive 3D sound of Imm Sound. The new studio occupies room 1 of the Sonoblok recording studios and has the latest technology on the market.

The room, which was equipped with a 5.1 monitoring system with JBL, has been easily adapted to Imm Sound's 23.1 monitoring configuration, so that in just a few days it has been fully updated, with minimal interruption to the studio's professional agenda.

The heart of the Imm Sound system is the IAW (Immersive Audio Workstation), a hardware unit that allows the engineer to perform 3D panning, as well as generate the imm file, in addition to all the currently standard versions on the market. This unit is the essential tool for creating the Imm soundtrack.

Among other functions, it has the ability to perform room equalization, as well as Imm band playback for post-project checks.

A 32-channel DFC-NEVE Gemini has been incorporated as a mixing console, which allows, through its numerous MADI inputs, to act as a bridge between the Pro Tools and IAW playback systems.

The studio, which has been installed in compliance with all acoustic regulations, is fully compatible and functional to host mixes in other formats, such as 5.1 and higher. Furthermore, full compatibility between the Imm Sound system and others has been carefully considered, so that mixes in other multichannel formats can be easily created.

The study has been classified as “Imm certified”, within a protocol in which the engineering team has carried out exhaustive equalization and adjustment tasks under the strict imm regulations. This process has allowed the room to have a superior quality, both in construction and acoustics, and the opinions of the first engineers and mixers who have visited the room are clearly satisfactory.

After visiting the new imm sound studio, Dean Humphreys, sound mixer at The pianist, stated that "what I felt the first time I heard Imm Sound reminds me of what I felt when I heard 5.1. Before 5.1, we all worked with two sound tracks. But when 5.1 arrived, it was a clear improvement and you couldn't resist the urge to mix a movie with this new format. Well, that's what I feel now with imm sound."

At the same time, several international producers have already shown their interest in mixing their films in Imm format in the new studio.

Continuing along this line, Imm sound is already in contact with studios in Los Angeles and Hong Kong to open new subsidiaries of its studios in strategic points of the global film market. At the same time, there are already several films that will begin filming this year that plan to carry out their post-production with this system.
