ISO 9001 Certification specifies the requirements for a quality management system, based on eight principles: customer orientation, leadership, people participation, process-based approach, or systems approach to management, among others.

The Harris Broadcast Communications transmitter assembly line in Brazil, which opened its doors almost two years ago in Campinas, São Paulo, has recently obtained one of the main international certifications: ISO 9001. This standard defines the technical criteria of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the entity that marks the certification in management quality. In the case of Harris, this certification has been granted for compliance with quality requirements in the manufacture of broadcast equipment.

To achieve this, Harris has passed several audits, carried out by Vanzolini, a company that also provided the entire documentation process in Brazil. At an international level, the process responsible for issuing the certificate and the company was NSAI, with which Harris has a global agreement.

Felipe Luna, director of Harris in Brazil, has highlighted that the objective now is to meet the demands of the increasingly efficient market and maintain the growth rate in recent years. "Since the beginning of the plant's operation in the country, prices have decreased by around 20% and customer service is being very fast. Harris has gained more than 50% of the market from the migration to digital television and has already guaranteed the production of the plant for the year 2016," he assured.

ISO 9001 specifies the requirements for a quality management system, based on eight principles: customer orientation, leadership, people participation, process-based approach, systems approach to management, continuous improvement, fact-based approach to decision making and mutual benefits in the relationship with suppliers.
