Harris Broadcast completes acquisition of Imagine Communications

The operation will strengthen Harris' presence in TV Everywhere and Over-the-top (OTT) markets.

Harris Broadcast, integrated into The Gores Group, has completed the integration operation with Imagine Communications, a company specialized in digital video solutions with great efficiency in terms of bandwidth and high video quality.

Charlie Vogt, president of Harris Broadcast, maintains that "TV Everywhere is the future of our industry, and our clients are strongly following this path to expand their business models and improve the monetization of content through any screen. The advanced adaptive bit rate (ABR) technology developed by Imagine combines quality and density considerably improving other transcoding options on the market."

On December 4, Harris Broadcast announced a definitive agreement to acquire Imagine Communications. Now, once the integration is complete, Harris will enhance its solutions portfolio with solutions such as MultiService SDN (Software Defined Network), which integrates sales, programming, automation, playout and distribution of linear and non-linear content across all types of networks.

It will also offer new possibilities in advanced transcoding technologies. The acquisition will expand Harris Broadcast's R&D innovation initiatives and increase the company's global market.
