Indian television network Captain Media deploys an advanced workflow based on EVS solutions that integrates ingestion, production and broadcast.

Captain Media in India has decided to update its production infrastructure to increase its capacity for ingestion, playout and storage in order to support its new Captain News channel.

After considering all the alternatives, the company has finally opted for the solutions EVS based on its performance, video management capabilities and integration with the ENPS newsroom system. In addition to supplying and integrating the entire workflow, EVS has also been responsible for staff training.

LK Sudhish, CEO of Captain Media, highlighted that "with EVS we have a flexible and integrated system that covers everything we need for our news channel from ingest to broadcast. The EVS system expands our production capabilities while offering the performance and reliability we need for our 24-hour operations."

This installation is using four XS servers in an open ingest configuration. Four reversible channels are controlled by EVS's IPDirector along with video management applications including the Ingest Scheduler module, and the Playlist Panel module that allows you to edit and control playlists with features such as transitions, functions and start loop modes. The EVS Xedio Dispatcher application is used to ingest content from ENG devices and for clip selection, logging, storyboarding and file rendering. All ingested footage is sent and stored on an EVS

Six IPDirector IPBrowse modules easily provide journalists, producers and editors with the ability to search and examine all material, compile it and export it according to defined targets. For news production, IPDirector's MOS Gateway Server is used to interact with the ENPS newsroom system. The entire database is fully redundant and under the control of an EVS environment. Captain News uses different editors including Final Cut Pro.

The final edited material is launched from a four-channel HD XS server controlled by the IPDirector Playlist Panel. The channel has also deployed two devices with 1 TB of removable storage for IPDirector for HDD archiving of the content with its metadata.

Jérôme Wauthoz, Product Manager at EVS, highlighted that “Captain News is the first customer in South Asia to join the rapidly growing list of top news broadcasters around the world who rely on complete solutions from EVS.”
