Wisi's new Optopus optical transmission platform
Wisi has just launched the Optopus optical platform, a highly flexible system for all types of optical networks. This system is used in HFC, FRoG or FTTX networks.
The well-known German manufacturer of professional television headend solutions and optical transmission systems It's hanging has just launched its new optical transmission platform, Optopus, on the market. It is an extremely flexible and high-density platform, prepared for use in any type of optical network, be it HFC, RF Overlay, RFoG or in FTTX applications.
The Optopus system has been designed to meet the needs of current optical networks. Its main features, such as redundancy of power supplies in alternating (AC) and/or continuous (-DC) voltage and many other advanced features practically cover the needs of all cable telecommunications operators.
The Optopus platform allows any module to be installed in any of the available slots, which allows for very flexible configurations, depending on the desired applications. In its 14 slots of the 3+1 UA subrack, up to 28 optical transmitters, 56 return channel optical receivers or a combination of both can be located, including the power supply, ventilation and the management unit.
Optopus offers a wide variety of internal and external modules. As for the former, these are managed through an internal communication bus, while external modules - such as high linearity external modulation transmitters or high power EDFAs - are connected and controlled through the secondary Ethernet ports of the system management unit.
This platform offers each operator the possibility of choosing the way to distribute their services through optical networks in a flexible and efficient way.
Among its main features, Optopus serves HFC, RFoG, FTTx networks and RF Overlay applications. It is a completely modular concept and allows the location of up to 28 transmitters or 56 optical receivers. It also offers high density of up to 14 modules in 4 UA and backplane for active or passive rack modules.
The equipment allows the location of passive plug-in optical modules in its rear part and passive cooling of the modules.
The ventilation is hot-pluggable, without the need to interrupt service. In addition, the management system continuously monitors the temperature of each of the modules and intelligently adjusts the speed of the fans.
Finally, Optopus integrates redundant power supplies, both alternating voltage (AC) and direct voltage (DC).
LX Modules
Optopus has a wide variety of LX modules, allowing the operator to build any kind of HFC or FTTx network. Among the various modules are single and double optical transmitters with different power levels in CWDM and DWDM technology, quadruple return channel optical receivers, both for HFC networks and also for RFoG networks. Likewise, it integrates a wide variety of optical dividers and passive modules for the multiplexing and demultiplexing of various light waves.
