HX-A100: Panasonic's first hands-free camcorder for home environments
At CES 2013, Panasonic debuts its new camera that records in Full HD quality and captures 5 megapixel images. Its compact and lightweight design makes it extremely comfortable to carry.
Coinciding with the great consumer electronics fair, CES 2013, in Las Vegas, Panasonic presents the HX-A100 portable camcorder, a new innovative model that, thanks to its surprising design, allows you to easily capture and share images both in everyday situations, at events or during outdoor sports without having to use your hands.
The compact and lightweight design of the HX-A100 makes it extremely comfortable to wear: the camera, which only weighs 30 grams, has an ear hook so users can record hands-free without the need for a helmet or more cumbersome and uncomfortable systems.
This design allows for accurate recording from the point of view of the protagonist of the action. Additionally, with the optional Multi-Mount accessory, the camera can also be mounted on a backpack, external mount or, if more convenient, a helmet, providing a wide variety of recording options.
Furthermore, the control panel, weighing 115 grams, is independent of the lens and can be adjusted to the arm, making the camera exceptionally easy to operate on the move.
Its dust and water resistant design (it can be submerged up to 1.5 meters) allows greater freedom to record in adverse situations. Thus, this camera is ideal both for those who practice extreme sports (snowboarding, skiing, sailing,...) and for urban athletes (skaters, tennis players, cyclists, motorcyclists, etc.) or those users who want to record their trips, their culinary recipes or their children in action.
One of the main features of the camera is its Wi-Fi feature, which allows users to stream live Ustream video to friends along with simultaneous recording in Full-HD. With this, users can publish their files to share them on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Flicker, Picasa or YouTube.
The integrated Wi-Fi also offers the possibility of turning your smartphone or tablet into the camera's remote control. Through an exclusive Panasonic application, it is possible to control the start and end of the recording, for example, remotely and even view the recording in real time.
Another advantage is the ease of sharing files with other compatible devices such as PCs, tablets, digital frames and even the television screen. This way, users do not have to remove the SD memory card from the camera and insert it into other devices or connect the camera with the USB connection cable before they can view or archive data.
Full HD quality and f2.5 lens
Despite its compact size and lightweight design, the A100 provides excellent image quality, drawing on the experience of Panasonic's long tradition of camcorder development.
One of them is the level meter (Level Shot), a feature that makes it possible for the camera, on its own, to correct the horizontal lines of the image to avoid crooked captures, and the image stabilizer, which suppresses blurry images and turns them into sharp and clear ones. Both are very useful for achieving perfect images even in motion.
Additionally, this portable camera captures clear, low-noise images in both bright and dim lighting conditions thanks to its f2.5 lens, BSI sensor and advanced LSI image processor.
On the other hand, the A100 records in Full HD quality and captures 5 megapixel images. With it, it is also possible to record HD videos in slow motion by activating “Slow Motion”. Plus, its long-lasting battery (up to 140 minutes of HD recording if Wi-Fi is off) provides long-lasting use on a single charge.
