The American Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) has honored the Spanish Manolo Romero with the Emmy “Lifetime Achievement Award”, which recognizes professional career throughout a lifetime, in the 64th edition of these recognized awards.

Malachy Wienges, president of NATAS, said in Las Vegas, coinciding with the presentation of the awards, that the former top executive of Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) "has been in charge of the television coverage of all the Olympic Games, summer and winter, since the 1968 Summer Games in Mexico City, notably increasing the viewer's experience in recent years. Therefore, the National Academy is proud to honor him with this award."

Romero was born in Seville and began his career in 1965, working in the engineering department of the public broadcaster Televisión Española.

Romero retired at the end of 2012 from his position as general director of Olympic Broadcast Services (OBS), the organization entrusted with the broadcasting of the Games by the Spanish Olympic Committee.
