The new generation Nexio Volt doubles the number of available recording ports with four bi-directional high-definition channels (up to eight SD), and offers exceptional density for broader ingest and output operations.

Nexio VoltHarris Broadcast will exhibit at CABSAT and NAB its next generation of Nexio Volt server-based software, which will allow it to offer a greater number of channels in an ultra-compact and very robust storage solution.

Extremely compact, Harris' integrated platform increases channel count, reliability, storage options, and options for ingest and playout operations.

Leveraging the latest technology in processing, storage and connectivity, the new Nexio Volt server platform, like its predecessor, offers low operating costs and high levels of resilience and reliability in a single rack unit. However, it doubles the number of available recording ports with four bi-directional high-definition channels (up to eight SD), offering exceptional density for broader ingest and playout operations.

Automatically generating low-resolution images during ingest provides additional ingest benefits to streamline media workflows, such as news for low-resolution viewing, editing, and conforming to high-resolution video for immediate playback.

This new generation also seeks greater efficiency in efficient bandwidth management and digital asset management environments, where the automatic production of low-resolution content speeds up the flow and eliminates unnecessary transcoding.

Harris Broadcast also expands media storage options with the new Nexio Volt by offering an integrated storage model, plus direct connections to Harris Nexio Farad for shared storage configurations via optional Gigabit Ethernet or fiber interfaces. The redundant connections for both options thus maximize the robustness and availability of the system, while all channels have immediate access to all available content.

Harris customers can use internal storage and shared storage systems using Harris Nexio Farad in a scalable RAID 60 or RAID-601. Software based on this latest RAID protection scheme allows users to expand bandwidth and shared storage capacity, and integration with additional Nexio servers, Velocity editors and other editing systems. Additionally, customers can integrate Volt with Versio for integrated streaming via file sharing or connection to shared storage in a channel-in-a-box operating environment.

Additional benefits include 3Gb/s capability, multi-language audio support and native back-to-back playback of multiple codecs in any order, including MPEG-2, DV25/50/100, H 0.264, DNxHD and AVC Intra.
