Canon Europa collaborates for another year with the Berlinale Talent Campus, a creative, educational and networking platform for new filmmakers, which takes place in parallel with the Berlin International Film Festival. As title sponsor, Canon Europe supports, with its professional imaging products and expertise, a series of events for 300 new film industry talents from around the world.

At the Berlinale Talent Campus #11, which takes place from February 9 to 14, Canon is presenting a new series of seminars that under the slogan Change your lens, change your story, the EOS Cinema System cameras are used, specifically the EOS C300, EOS C500 and EOS-1D C models. Award-winning filmmaker David Leitner will talk about the advantages that the use of modern and affordable digital cameras can bring to the production and post-production phases. The seminars will also present the latest developments in the sector and show how the new generation of HD and 4K cameras, thanks to the technical changes they include, will make telling stories much easier for filmmakers in the future.

Kieran Magee, Director of Professional Imaging at Canon Europe, highlighted that "our new collaboration with the Berlinale Talent Campus is something we are very proud of. The fundamental principle of Canon, and its EOS system, is to give users the power to create high-quality images with products that are, however, very easy to use. This collaboration will help us introduce these principles to a new generation of filmmakers and help them express their creative vision."

Canon also supports the conference Speaking in Images: The Cinematographer’s Perspective in which renowned cinematographers will talk about their collaboration with film directors and explain how the “look” of the film can be determined by using the right photography techniques. The Post-Production Studio, created in cooperation with Canon, will focus on the complex digital workflow after filming, and participants will have the opportunity to work with the latest equipment.

“In 2011, we launched the EOS Cinema System, with the goal of bringing our fundamental principles in the field of imaging to the world of cinema,” continued Magee. "Now, less than two years after its launch, filmmakers around the world find products in our EOS range an essential tool for their work. In collaboration with the Berlinale Talent Campus, we are confident that we can help filmmakers take a step forward in their creative journey, offering our equipment and expertise to a new generation."

Dagmar Forelle, Director of Sponsorship at the Berlin International Film Festival, said: "The collaboration between Canon and the Berlinale Talent Campus is the logical relationship between two organizations that are working to create and shape the visual future of the film industry. We are happy to have Canon on board."

“In the 11th edition of the Berlinale Talent Campus, 300 filmmakers from 96 countries will participate in an exciting program,” commented Matthijs Wouter Knol and Christine Tröstrum, directors of the Berlinale Talent Campus. "Creating specific opportunities to increase knowledge and creativity is one of our main objectives, as well as encouraging collaborative film creation. Working together with our collaborators to achieve this has been extremely effective over the past decade and this new sponsorship from Canon allows us to reach a new level of collaboration. The campus is a six-day event, but it has proven to be a career-changing experience for many of the participants in the past."

German photographer and portraitist Jörg Kyas will use Canon equipment in his studio to take the 300 portraits of the 2013 Berlinale Talent Campus participants. Canon equipment will be used throughout the event to record promotional videos.
