Loudness measurement, now available, in Quantel with Nugen VisLM
Quantel users will now have new tools to perform sound pressure measurements quickly and easily.
Quantel has announced support for VisLM loudness measurement software from Nugen Audio. This solution will now be available in the English manufacturer's broadcast editors since its latest version 5.2.
Loudness has become a hot topic in recent years, with different standards bodies around the world establishing mandatory specifications for loudness in television broadcasts.
VisLM offers a solution compatible with the standardization of ITU, ATSC and EBU/EBU, allowing the user to work with these scales, measuring, comparing and contrasting sound pressure during post-production. The VisLM loudness meter offers real-time measurement and many times faster than real-time analysis mode.
VisLM is now fully integrated into Quantel's editing and finishing workspace, allowing the user to control loudness level compliance simply and quickly. Thanks to this integration, it is possible at a glance to check the actual peak level, loudness range, mixing levels, viewer and program appreciation.
Steve Owen, director of marketing at Quantel, highlights that "loudness compliance is now an essential consideration for broadcasters and post-production companies. NuGen Audio's VisLM is a powerful and easy-to-use loudness meter that integrates directly into the heart of our unbeatably fast workflow."
For his part, Nugen Audio's creative director, Jon Schorah, highlighted that "tight integration at the heart of an editing system is the key to a fast and efficient workflow. By working with Quantel, we will help ensure that essential loudness measurement is seamlessly available across its entire range of broadcast editors."
