Clear-Com updates its HelixNet intercom system
Extended functionality in version 1.1 includes the ability to link up to five HMS-4X main stations and up to 100 HBP-2X digital belt packs via Ethernet connection.
Clear-Com has revealed version 1.1 of the HelixNet Partyline Intercom System at NAB 2013. The new version of the link system now presents extended capacity for digital communication systems through a network between production users in different fields, mobile units and studio matrices.
The extended functionality of version 1.1 includes the ability to link up to five HMS-4X main stations and up to 100 HBP-2X digital packs via Ethernet connection, to launch a larger and more sophisticated partyline intercom system.
It is possible to define up to five main stations by the system that can be connected by the HLI-ET2 Ethernet module. Master stations can be connected directly or via LAN using standard TI switches.
The new HLI-FBS Fiber module is also available for stations linked over long distances. The fiber module has two fiber ports using SFP modules for easy changes of fiber transceivers. This also allows up to four main stations to be linked in one fiber chain. The standard connection is Single-Mode with Multi-Mode offered as optional.
The HelixNet system is the industry's first to combine the simplicity of a traditional analog partyline intercom with the advanced network management capabilities of a matrix. Because single-pair shielded cable is used to support audio channels, audio programming, and power for beltpacks, the system is ideal for broadcast applications requiring rapid setup and distribution of multiple intercom channels.
Since HelixNet is based on I.V. Clear-Com Core, a core set of IP intercom technologies for network flexibility, the system can be operated on any LAN infrastructure found in the studio or remote production environments, making it easier to create a decentralized distributed intercom architecture.
